Outdoor Education
EBS is thrilled to have a long-standing partnership with Back to Earth, a revolutionary local organization that guides young people into deeper relationship with nature, self, and community. Over the years, Back to Earth has created immersive overnight experiences for our students that has helped them better understand themselves and develop a stronger sense of connection with each other.
This year Back to Earth launched a new program at EBS offering outdoor experiences during the school day. Back to Earth staff joined us almost every other week on Thursday mornings to present their beautiful message of self-awareness, connection to nature, stewardship, and gratitude. Students engaged in both hands-on and contemplative activities that explored the relationships we have as individuals and as a community to the natural world.
One of the rituals we practice in our sessions with Back to Earth is the recitation of the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address, which helps our community to set intentions, understand our sense of connection all things, and consider what we are grateful for our lives and in the world. We are happy to have a chance to share a fragment of this address with you.
