EBS + UC Berkeley Initiatives
Hearst Gym
Every Friday Hearst Gym is EBS students’ home for sports, circus arts, and other movement-based classes and workshops.
Goldman School of Public Policy
For three years, the Risk Resilience Lab at the Goldman School of Public Policy engaged EBS students to test the usability, engagement, and potential efficacy of a video game designed with a social justice lens, culturally informed pedagogy, and social-emotional benefits.
The Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life at UC Berkeley
This past fall EBS students spent a day at the museum exploring the collection and using their understanding of design thinking to examine how museum displays are created and what stories those curatorial choices tell.
Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive
EBS students had an opportunity to experience BAMPFA’s exhibit on the legacy of the Great Migration and to sit down for a special conversation with Charles Presley, first generation West Oakland resident, to discuss his extended family experience of wartime migration from Arkansas and Louisiana to Oakland.
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Scientists from Berkeley Lab have run a coding elective for EBS students offering training in a variety of coding languages, including python and C++.
Athletics Department
The UC Berkeley field hockey coaches and players have led units in EBS’s physical education program to build our students understanding of the game and basic skills.
Berkeley School of Education
For over a decade, EBS has partnered with the Berkeley School of Education to have graduate and undergraduate education students volunteer, help in classes, and provide tutoring and homework support to our students. Cal students gain experience and fieldwork credit, and our students get to connect with young adults, learn more about college, and benefit from the additional academic support.
