Introduction to Astrophysics
Introduction to Astrophysics
Embark on a journey through the universe in this three-part introductory course. Together, we will explore the three fundamental branches of astrophysics:
Planetary Physics — Discover how planets form, orbit, and evolve, from our own solar system to distant exoplanets.
Stellar Physics — Uncover the life cycles of stars, including how they shine, grow, and sometimes explode spectacularly.
Cosmology — Zoom out to the largest scales to investigate the origins, structure, and ultimate fate of the universe.
The course is rooted in conceptual understanding meaning no prior science or math background is required. Despite this, participants may have optional opportunities to engage with more advanced mathematics and coding for a deeper dive into the science behind the cosmos. Whether you’re a lifelong learner, science enthusiast, or simply curious about how the universe works, this course offers an inspiring and intellectually rewarding experience.
This course will meet from 6pm to 7:30pm on the following dates: 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 12/1, 12/8, and 12/15.
