Starting as a third grade teacher in 1992, David has worn many hats in schools: principal, division head, admissions director, and operations manager.
As an educator and a parent, he understands the value of an excellent academic and character-building middle school experience; these years happen quickly, yet set the stage for young adulthood and beyond. David is excited to apply his experience, creativity, and enthusiasm to ensuring EBS’s sustainable future.
As the development leader in his previous role at North Oakland Community Charter School (NOCCS), David ran a successful $1M Capital Campaign, Annual Fund, auctions, grant writing, and special events. As a volunteer, David has served as Board President of Oakland Youth Chorus (OYC) and coordinator of NOCCS outdoor education. Originally from Cleveland, he earned his B.A. in Fine Art from Yale University and his Teaching Credential from San Francisco State. David and his wife, also an educational leader, are parents to three young adults. Outside of school, he is passionate about fostering community, especially in the “third space” of his Oakland neighborhood.
